From the Twelveswood, Odette formed an early appreciation for archaeology and anthropology when she began delving into the history of Gelmorra and its people. Concerned about the loss of their memories, ways of life, their stories, and their architecture, she decided it was of the utmost importance that such parts of the world be not only revered but saved for the generations that would follow.

Eventually this extended to the whole of Aldenard and beyond that—lands that rested across the vast seas.

Her relatively small family continues to reside in the Twelveswood and she always pays them a visit whenever she returns home.

And then a Leap

A kind, warm, and welcoming individual, Odette is helpful, if not a bit scatter-brained at times. She can sometimes be quite oblivious to the things going on around her if they don't immediately correlate to her work or the situation at hand.

Often, she can be found with her face in a book whether she's reading or writing in one.

At times quiet, and at others, more than happy to speak on her most current pursuit of knowledge, Odette is happiest when she is frequently on the move and doesn't make it a habit of lingering in any one place for too terribly long when work isn't involved.

Odette, is a firm-faced individual when it comes to her research. As much as she may claim selfless reasons for doing so, she longs for recognition in the pursuits of her passions and her discoveries, hoping they will alter minds and hearts for the future.

At times, she can be conflicted on the idea of preserving all relics, but understands it is possible for one to facilitate a necessary 'evil' in the name of overall constructive progress. She has, at times, been known to hold onto relics if she feels her research can benefit more from them in personal possession than turning them over to authoritative figures.

Here We Land

You might have a tie to Odette...
(Not limited to the below.)

Are you an escort service? With her travels, Odette has just enough combat experience to defend herself. As such, sometimes it is necessary for her to have at least an extra body to watch her back.Do you work with historical artefacts? Are you a treasure hunter? Do you have ties to the Black Market? It is possible Odette has wanted to learn more about a relic you might have in your possession, along with making an official record of its history and properties.Do you dabble in white magick or have an interest in Amdapor? Odette's early research into Gelmorra paved the way for her to track its roots toward the direction of the Amdapori people and the War of the Magi. She seeks a way to replicate the potency of magicks in a safer, more constructive fashion.Have you studied in Sharlayan? Whether you're a native or someone who was visiting, it is possible you know (or knew) Odette at one point in time. Are you an Astrologian or familiar with such work? Odette's studies in Sharlayan included insight into the field. Whilst not proficient by any means, it is a pastime she holds close to her heart and intends to hone her skills on with regards to an understanding of the stars and divination. Are you well-travelled? Odette has moved all across the seas and the lands in search of knowledge. Including but not limited to Sharlayan, Coerthas, Othard, and more! Are you an avid reader? Odette has submitted her findings to libraries all across the world in hopes of expanding the minds of the people, with credit under the name 'O. Dubois'.

"Historic preservation clearly does much more than preserve words and stone.

It recognises that our built history connects us in tangible ways with our past and provides context for the places we occupy and the world we live in.

It fuses art with craftsmanship, capacity for contemporary utility with embodied energy, and progressive ideas for economic revitalisation with traditional authenticity.

Historic preservation is at the same time wonderfully egalitarian; all socioeconomic classes in every corner of the nations have successfully utilised its principles to protect their heritage and revitalise their communities."

Out of Character

Hi there!

I do RP both in-game and out-of-game, but can be difficult to get a hold of.

My discord is London Bridge#5283.

If you message me or intend to friend me, please tell me who you are first. I will not respond to friend requests or messages from people who fail to do this.

Note that my work and real life schedule will take precedence to roleplay. If you cannot handle that, then I'm not the writing partner for you. Please respect my time and I will repay you with the same courtesy.

Odette is an alt. I don't intend to rush through content unless it is needed for access to an area / dungeon / raid for RP purposes.

I enjoy a variety of storylines, though am particularly fond of the deep and profound. I love thought-provoking storylines, development of characters, relationship dynamics, you name it. If it involves the organic, natural progression of something, you can bet that I'm going to be all over it.

My thoughts do not necessarily reflect Odette's. The fact of the matter is that Odette's knowledge on history of the world FFXIV is set in is probably better than my own, but I will do my best to research, so that the information she gives ICly is justifiable and makes sense. That being said, if you catch something that's wrong or doesn't seem right, please send me a tell and let me know.

I subscribe to the idea that when it comes to RP, most things tend to be fair game with appropriate and adequate discussions where it's necessary. If you don't know, or aren't sure, the best thing to do is ask.
